It was just recently, exiting my first hot yoga session, drenched in sweat and full of shanti, that I became aware of the glorious universe that is hot yoga. Hot yoga is your standard yoga session with the added challenge of the practice being concentrated in a room heated to 105-110°. Apparently, one burns anywhere from 500 to 1000 calories in a 60-minute hot yoga session!
Be warned, however, that you. will.
sweat.
Though I find something delightfully refreshing in allowing every pore of the body to drip, releasing the toxic waste rampant throughout, not all are akin to this unfamiliar moisture.
Anyway, after tackling my initial, "lure-you-in" purchase of "10 for $10" sessions in roughly three weeks, I realized I was left with no choice but to find any possible way to accrue more time in the studio.
I forgot to mention that a purchase of ten sessions after the initial "lure-you-in 10 for $10" purchase is priced at $110. Albeit less than glamorous, this is no cheap hobby.
Luckily, my studio is offering a "21-Day Month of March Challenge" for $60. It is essentially what it sounds like: your $60 purchase is good for unlimited studio time between the first and twenty-first of March. Those that are able to complete a total of nineteen sessions within that twenty-one-day period are entered into a drawing to win thirty FREE sessions.
I have to win.
As previously mentioned, my history of "hot yoga" began a few weeks ago on 10 Feb 2013 when I purchased my initial "10 for $10" promo. It is now 27 Feb 2013, and earlier this evening I completed my final, tenth session. To enter into the "sweepstake," I have to attend twice as many classes in less time than I am used to. Tomorrow (H 28 Feb 2013), I allow my person to rest. Friday (1 Mar 2013), I begin.
I have chosen to view this twenty-one day challenge as a complete, life-changing whole.
{21 straight days of: hot yoga, blogging, eating only the freshness that my personal fridge provides, and purchasing/reading the paper,
attempting the
daily basic crossword and sudoku-- I am aware that the "paper" is available online for free, but something tells me my future self will appreciate this attempt in handling the physical newspaper while reading it}.
Practice intentions:
{Strength
-- Balance
-- Focus
-- Serenity
-- Posture Awareness
-- Detoxification}.
Despite being a rather demanding list, I hope to see it through. I feel that following these three, challenging weeks, I will have achieved the standard of health and financial stability that I have so long desired.
